Huge (lifesize!) vintage surreal ape man in a powdered-style wig and beautifully crafted antique-style costume. The primate's face is a hard, handpainted material, his hair appears to be sheep's wool, and he is otherwise mostly stuffed fabric. The creature is made to sit (with hinged knees), but if he stood he would stand about 55". Condition is excellent with only age appropriate wear. I'm told he's believed to have been made for one of the original 1960s/1970s Planet of the Apes movies, where he would have been a prop in a scene that took place in an ape museum with a pseudo-seventeenth century exhibit. Whatever the origin, he is magnificent.
